SPORTS CAREER EXPO TO BE FEATURED AT 14TH ANNUAL RIP THE CUT BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT THIS SATURDAY MAY 28TH AT CLEVELAND HIGH SCHOOL
Seattle, WA - The Game Recognize Game Urban Sports Marketing Academy will be hosting a Sports Careers Expo on Saturday May 28th, 2011, 12pm - 4pm at Cleveland High School in conjunction with the annual Rip The Cut Memorial Basketball Tournament. Cleveland High School is located at 5511 15th Ave South, Seattle WA 98118.
The purpose of the Sports Career Awareness Expo is to use youth interest in sports as a window to the many career and business opportunities in the robust multi-billion dollar sports industry. Simultaneously the event promotes the importance of academic achievement and attending college. The expo will feature a sports professionals panel and resource fair. The event is supported in part by the City of Seattle Youth Violence Prevention Initiative. Entry is free with admission to the tournament.
The Sports Professionals panel will be held from 1:00pm – 2:15. Confirmed participants include:

· Sara Lopez –Co-Director, Center for Leadership in Athletics and Executive Director for the Intercollegiate Athletic Leadership (IAL) M.Ed. program at University of Washington

· Dr. Galen Trail – Graduate Program Coordinator, Seattle University Masters in Sports Administration & Leadership
The panel will be followed by a networking mixer with light refreshments.
About Game Recognize Game
Founded in 2008 with support from the City of Seattle, the Game Recognize Game Urban Sports Marketing Academy is a sports based career exploration program for at-risk youth in Seattle. The project introduces youth to the many business and career opportunities surrounding professional sports. The curriculum uses professional sports as a lens to examine the attitudes and behaviors necessary for success on the court or playing field and in life. Participants gain valuable skills including decision making, strategic planning, marketing and resource management by planning the annual Heal The Hood Outdoor Youth Basketball Tournament at Umoja Fest community basketball tournament and related activities. About About Rip The Cut Memorial Basketball Tournament
The 14th Annual Rip The Cut Memorial Basketball Tournament will be held May 28-30, 8am-3pm at Cleveland High School 5511 15th Ave South, Seattle WA 9818. A Memorial Day Weekend tradition in Seattle, the RIP The Cut Memorial Basketball Tournament attracts thousands of attendees and features a who's who of Seattle's top basketball talent playing to promote non-violence. The three day tournament has featured players from around the city, including NBA players Nate Robinson, Brandon Roy, Shawn Kemp, Jamal Crawford, Terrence Williams, Aaron Brooks, Martell Webster, Spencer Hawes and more. Some of the proceeds raised from the event is donated to Seattle Public Schools and other charitable organizations.
